Does caste based reservation make sense ?

There is a lot of human cry about caste based reservations. No matter who you are and which caste you belong to , you must have been a part of reservation debate. Social media has added fuel to these debates and since everyone is an expert on social media, we are flooded with the opinions about reservations. Let's have a look at some of the logic commonly used in reservation debates.

For :

1) Backward castes have been suppressed by “Manuvaadis” for ages . This is not possible for them to survive and succeed without giving them  reservation in jobs and education.
2) Backward communities/minorities must have their representation in all the sectors else upper casts and majorities will finish them off.
3) We have been away from opportunities for so long. How can we compete with people who have always been getting the best opportunities.
4) It's our constitutional right

The list is long. Let's see the top logics of those who want to abolish reservations

Against :

1) Why should rich SC/ST get reservation? Reservation should be poverty based
2) Someone becomes an officer because of reservation and his kids again get benefits of reservations , why ?
3) Because of reservations a bright Brahmin is a peon and a moron is an IAS . is that Fair ?
4) Get SC patients treated by SC doctors and general patients by general one.

So you see , both the parties are agitated enough but the sad truth is , logics given by both the parties are equally useless. One party wants the status quo while other set of people want to abolish the reservations completely. But you know what , both of these demands defy the theory of evolution. and Evolution is the only key and therefore , the only thing that can serve justice to bright upper caste who are suffering despite good grades and backward/minority candidates deprived from opportunities is EVOLUTION. Reservation system neither needs to be abolished, not it needs to be maintained as it is. It needs to be CHANGED.

What makes sense :

1) We must understand that prime motto of reservation is not to provide job and education opportunity to backward / minorities just because they are poor. This system is there to ensure their representation in a fair ratio. Therefore , caste based reservation makes sense. "Giving reservations to poor people irrespective of their caste" doesn't make sense for the same logic.

2) Reservation and Fee concession should be treated as 2 different issues.  Cost of forms and education cost should be kept lower for poor people even from upper caste , rich backward people can afford to buy forms at normal rate and pay normal fees. This also answers the question "why reservation to kids of people who already got jobs through reservations?" the simple answer is - "Equal representation". However , these candidates shouldn't get advantage of fee concession.

3) Fair representation from all the castes and communities is a great idea , however we need to review how much we can compromise on the quality of candidates. There must be some benchmark to qualify for reservation too. for example - If 80% is the cut off for general cast , keep it 50% (or even 40%) for reserved castes but make a rule than if we don't get required number of candidates scoring above benchmark , those positions will be filled by general waiting list. This rule will ensure that we do not have a mathematics lecturer who scored 27 out of 400 marks in entrance test. Mind it , this is a real time scenario and nation doesn't want equal representation at this cost.

4) Different industries can have different benchmarks. For example , a moderately* skilled postman or clerk or bank employee will start doing the job fine after some experience. But can you imagine a moderately skilled pilot or doctor ? What kind of disasters they can make ? Officials may ponder upon and decide a fair benchmark for all the departments.

Does this make sense ? comments are welcome.

*Writer simply wants to refer moderately skilled for the people who actually scored lesser than standard in respective eligibility test. Relating this to a particular caste and cry foul will not make sense.
